Europe Week celebrations in Essarts-en-Bocage

In May 2026, four representatives from Bicester travelled to Essarts-en-Bocage, Bicester’s twinned community in France, to take part in their celebration of Europe Week.

Sandra and Krys travelled from Bicester by car and had an easy journey via Eurotunnel (no EES there yet!), with an overnight stop on the way, while Monica and Chris came by train from Paris. Both couples were hosted by local families with whom they had already made friends through earlier twinning visits.

Three representatives from our twin town in Germany, Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, were also present for the occasion.

It was an excellently organised weekend with a full programme of entertainment and activities, spent with a very convivial group.

Armed Forces Day 27 June 2026

Please come along to meet our team and support us at this event on Pingle Field from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. We will be running a stall with competitions for adults and children and some very excellent prizes including food hampers featuring products from our twinned countries. There will be plenty of other interesting stalls, events and people to meet for a fine day out.

We enjoyed a very fine evening of Quizzing at The Shakespeare on April 22nd. With a fantastic array of prizes for the winners of both the quiz and the raffle, everyone went home happy one way or another. Many thanks as always to Debbie for organising the event; to Paul, the landlord, for providing the venue and a prize for the winning team; Steve who did a fantastic job as quizmaster; and to all of those who contributed the raffle prizes.

Town twinning offers numerous benefits by fostering cultural exchange, economic collaboration, and international friendship. These partnerships encourage communities to share knowledge, traditions, and experiences, leading to greater mutual understanding and respect between different cultures. By engaging in student exchanges, arts and cultural programs, and joint events, twinned towns can strengthen international ties and promote tolerance, making the world a more interconnected and harmonious place.

Bicester is proud to be twinned with three charming European towns and communes:
